Chita Travel Guide

Chita is located in the western part of Aichi prefecture.  It includes the cities of Chita, Tokai, Handa, and Tokoname and is also called Chita Peninsula because of the unique topography.

The city of Tokoname located in this area is the production center for Tokonameyaki pottery. In Japan, most of the pots used for making tea are Tokonameyaki. For those who are interested in unique streets, we recommend spots such as Dokan Slope and “Yakimono-Sanpo Street” walkway, which are lined with walls made of old Tokonameyaki shochu jars. In the summer, enjoy swimming at the beach. Driving by the sea is also very lovely. In addition, there are morning markets in some local fishing ports so you can enjoy fresh seafood and dried fish.

It is convenient to have a car for getting around this area.  From major cities, take the bullet train to Nagoya Station or fly through Chubu International Airport.  From Nagoya Station to this area, it is about 1 hour by car.  Chubu International Airport is only 20 minutes away.
