Introduction

The Food Replica Workshop is a tourist facility based on the theme of food samples from the Hachiman area of Gujo. Gujo Hachiman makes the majority of national food samples, and so it is a local industry representative of the region.

It was built in a building constructed 150 years ago and remodeled to suit the building, and includes exhibitions, food samples, a sales corner, an experience corner, and a production workshop. In the exhibition on corner there are lifelike exhibits of ramen and spaghetti on display that will make you say "Oh!", and there is also nigiri sushi on display. You can also purchase food replica samples as cellphone or key chains, and pen stands.

You can also experience how the food replicas are made while being guided by the staff. You can also see the samples up close for yourself, and even touch them.

In 2011 the Kitamachi museum opened its second building about 5 minutes away, and you can buy cute food samples here that you won’t find at the main museum. The Kitamachi Museum also features ice cream and Gujo specialty milk as well.

Access

Using a bus, get off at the Joukamachi Plaza (城下街) stop and it’s a 5 minute walk away.

Using a train, take the Nara River railway to the Gujo Hachiman Station (郡上八幡駅) and get off. It takes about 20 minutes walking from there, so if you’re in a hurry, you might consider a taxi.
