What is Ishikawa Prefectural Museum of Traditional Arts and Crafts

Located adjacent to the Kenrokuen Park, the Ishikawa Prefectural Museum of Traditional Arts and Crafts holds "Total coordination of modern life and traditional crafts" as its theme. The permanent collection holds Kutaniyaki and Wajimanuri, items representing the 36 types of national and prefecture specified traditional craft industries of Ishikawa Prefecture. In the exhibition which introduces the modern crafts, there are items and craft-styles brought in monthly from outside of the prefecture as well as workshops. The demonstrations and hands-on experiences led by traditional craftsmen are also popular and are held on weekends. Please check their website for more details.

Unique and fashionable items are available at the museum shop. Visitors who go on a rainy day receive a small gift.

The museum is closed every third Thursday from April to November, and every Thursday from December to March.
