Mikawa is a region located in the eastern part of Aichi prefecture. It includes the cities of Toyota, Okazaki, Shinjo, Toyohashi, and Tahara.
There are plenty historical and cultural places such as Okazaki Castle and Sanshu Asuke Yashiki. In addition, the city of Toyota is famous as the headquarters of Toyota Motor Corporation, and there are related points of interest such as Toyota Kaikan Museum and Toyota Plant Tour.
There is no railway service in the northern part of this region so it is convenient to have a car. In Toyohashi and other places in the southern part, there is a bullet train station and it takes 1 hour and 30 minutes to get there from Tokyo Station. Surf spots like Tahara and the Chita peninsula can be reached by ferry.
