A company museum at the headquarters of the Toyota Motor Corporation, aiming to introduce the cutting edge of car manufacturing via exhibits and videos. There is an on-site video hall which shows off the evolution of hybrid cars and eco-car development, high quality car manufacturing with the Toyota Production System, and exhibits where you can learn about the development process all the way to the production process. The exhibition hall also displays automobile structure, concept cars, advanced technology, and the history of Toyota.
There’s also the Partner Robot which can play a trumpet like a human, and the future personal mobility "i-unit" which appeared in the Aichi Expo in 2005, which you can tour the plant with if you reserve in advance. At the second floor there is a museum shop where you can buy a variety of souvenir products including Partner Robot, plastic model, mini cars, and other automotive themed items.
By public transit, from Nagoya Station (名古屋駅) take the subway Tsurumai line or the Meitetsu Toyoda Line to Toyota City Station (豊田市駅). Get off and it’s 20 minutes by taxi. Or you can take a bus from Toyota City Station to Toyota Memorial Hospital and then get off at the Toyota Headquarters. You can also take the JR Tokai or Aichi Loop Line to Mikawa-Toyota Station三河豊田駅) via Okazaki Station (岡崎駅), and walk 20 minutes.
By car, take the Tomei Expressway to Toyota IC (豊田) then take Route 76 for 2km, turn left as Akebono-cho (曙町), then take Route 491 to the east for about 3km, and straight at Toyota Machiminami (トヨタ町南) towards the Toyota Kaikan. It takes about 20 minutes total.
