In the train exhibition, visitors can see the first original Zero-type Shinkansen, 100-Type, 300-Type, and 700-Type Shinkansen. They can also see the yellow 922 Shinkansen, called "Doctor Yellow", which is used for railway inspection so therefore ordinary people usually do not see it. The 923 Type is the new Doctor Yellow and since visitors can rarely see it, this is a very popular one. The experimental SCMAGLEV car for the SCMAGLEV Central Shinkansen Line that is planned to run in 2027 is also exhibited. In addition, Japan’s only remaining steam rail car, the Hoji 6005 steam rail car, along with many other historic trains are displayed.
Most of the commentaries are written in English, and there is also an iPod-like touch screen device that operates in Japanese, English, Chinese, Korean, French, German, Spanish, and Portuguese. (500 yen for the rental)
Besides train exhibits, there are also Shinkansen (bullet train) and Zairaisen (normal train) driving simulators that are popular among children. There is a charge for the simulators, and visitors also have to draw cards in order to use the simulators. Since many people come to visit on weekends, it is harder to get the lucky card. There are also railway dioramas, displays of historic resources and railway tools, and even hands-on learning classes.
For food and drink, there is the Delica-Station, where station lunch boxes and original SCMAGLEV and railway lunches are sold. At the museum shop, railway goods and souvenirs can be purchased.
Train: Two minutes from Kinjoufutou Station on the Aonami Line. The Aonami Line runs through JR Nagoya Station, which is about 25 minutes away.
