Yatsugatake, one of the hundred famous mountains in Japan, and Lake Suwa, which is the symbol of the area, and places to enjoy hiking and skiing such as Kurumayama Kogen and Kirigamine Plateau. Other than that, there are spots related to culture and history, such as Suwataisha Kamisha-Honmiya-Shrine and Suwataisha Shimosha-Akimiya-Shrine where the god of abundant grain is enshrined.
You can get around this area by train or car. From major cities, it is easy to get here by car, express bus, and conventional train. From Tokyo, it takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes to get to Kami-Suwa Station on the Chuo Main line. By express bus, it takes about 3 hours.
