Iwaguni Travel Guide

Iwakuni is an area located in the southeastern part of Yamaguchi prefecture.  Its center is the city of Iwakuni and includes the cities of Shunan, Kudamatsu, Hikari and Yanai.

In Iwakuni, there are many sightseeing spots related to history such as Iwakuni Castle (Yokoyama Castle), the white walled Edo period (1603-1868) prosperous merchant city townscape of White Wall Street of Yanai City, and the Museum of Merchants “Muroya No Sono”.  Also recommend Kintai Bridge, which is selected as one of the three most famous bridges in Japan.

You can get around this area by car or bus.  The nearest station is Shin-Iwakuni and from major cities, you can get there by bullet train.  Tokyo is about 4 hours and 30 minutes away by bullet train.
