Moere-numa Park

This park was developed under the Sapporo Circular Greenbelt Concept, which is a city planning concept that aims at developing the urban areas of Sapporo with greenbelts and parks. The area is 188.8 hectares. The design of the park was created by the world-renowned architect Isamu Noguchi; however, he died in 1988, so his legacy carried on with the project. The symbol of the park is a 32m high and 2483sq. m glass pyramid nicknamed HIDAMARI (bright spot). Also popular are Moere Beach, an artificial bathing area, and the Sea Fountain with a circumference of 48 m, that shoots water 25 meters in the air. In summer they conduct firework festivals, and in spring you can enjoy more than 3000 cherry trees. In autumn you can enjoy the foliage, and in winter you can go cross-country skiing. Many people visit here to see the unique design by Isamu Noguchi or just enjoy the facilities.
