Sapporo Racecourse

This racecourse in Sapporo, Hokkaido was opened in 1907. A lot of visitors to the racecourse say that it’s wide and spacious. A lot of Japanese people, especially those coming from Honshu, say it is very "Hokkaido-like". The size of buildings and facilities in Hokkaido and Honshu is often different. In 2014, the racecourse underwent reconstruction which emphasized the size and the feeling of space in the racecourse. For this reason, Hokkaido racecourse doesn’t have the squalid atmosphere and crowds of Honshu racecourses.

In addition, you can find a Kids playground called "Kids Land", pony garden, hosting Hokkaido ponies and an observation deck on the roof. There ara many things you can enjoy here, including the horse racing.

Train: 10 minutes from JR Soen Station, 15 minutes from Nijuyonken Station

Alternatively, there is a bus going to the racecourse from Sapporo Station and Nijuyonken Station. Parking is limited, so using public transportation is advised.
