Sapporo Beer Museum is located in Sapporo, Hokkaido. It introduces the history of beer and the ways of drinking it. You can learn everything about beer here; this is the only museum of its kind in beer-loving Japan.
The entrance is free; on the 2nd and 3rd floor you can see the beer making process, as well as historical posters, copper pots used at Sapporo factory etc.
Additionally, a free guided tour is conducted every 20 minutes during which you can learn many interesting things, such as how to pour a beer correctly. On the 1st floor, you can find tasting lounge where you can try rare kinds of beer available only here such as Hokkaido Development Commission Memorial Beer, Black Label, Classic etc. At the adjacent Sapporo Beer Garden, you can try Genghis Khan, a famous Hokkaido barbecue and draft beer, straight from the factory.
The museum is closed on Mondays, if Monday is a public holiday it will be closed on the next day. New Year and New Year Eve are also closed, so check in advance before you go.
Train: From Sapporo Station on Toho Line go to Higashi Kuyakusho-mae Station, 10 min walk.
Bus: From Sapporo Station South Exit take Chuo bus, get off at Sapporo Beer garden. Alternatively, from Sapporo Station North Exit take Naebo North Line bus, get off at "Sapporo Biruen-mae" bus stop. The museum will be in front of you.
