About Bamboo Street

If you go to Sagano you have to go to Bamboo Street. The section that goes from Nonomiya Jinja through to Tenryu-ji’s northern side and near the Ōkōchi Sansō is very famous. It is used in numerous TV dramas and commercial shootings. During early spring when the leaves have just sprouted the atmosphere is very refreshing and perfect for a relaxing stroll. In December during the Arashiyama Hanatoro you can enjoy the fantastic bamboo forest lit up by golden-glowing paper lanterns.

The nearest railway stations are the Keifuku Electric Railroad’s Arashiyama Station. (嵐山駅), the Hankyu Arashiyama Line’s Arashiyama Station, or if you prefer JR, the JR Sagano Line’s Saga Arashiyama Station (嵯峨嵐山駅).
