What is The Museum of Oriental Ceramics in Osaka?

The Museum of Oriental Ceramics in Osaka is a museum which collects typically oriental ceramics like Goryeo Korean clay (the dynasty of Korea, 918 to1392 CE) and Chinese clay. The museum has approximately 4,000 pieces of ceramics including two national treasures and thirteen important cultural assets.

Access and admission fees

You can visit The Museum of oriental Ceramics in Osaka by train. The closest stations are: Keihandensha's Naniwabashi Station, Yodoyabashi Station and Kitahama Station of both the Osaka Municipal Subway and the Keihandensha. There is no parking lot for ordinary visitors. Passage of vehicles is also prohibited on the grounds of Nakanoshima Park, where the museum is located, on Sundays and holidays so going by train is recommended. The admission fee is 500 yen for adults and 300 yen for university and high school students. As the admission fee for special exhibitions are different from ordinary fees, you should check the visitor information on the website in advance.

Floors and collections

The collections are organized by respective countries and kinds of wares and exhibited in each gallery. As major collections, you can see the national treasures- "Yutekitenmoku-chawan" and "Tobiseijihanaike" and important cultural assets like "Seijichokabotankarakusamonpei," "Hakujikokkarennkamonsen," "Seikabotankarakusamonban," and so on. Besides galleries, modern ceramic arts are exhibited in various part of the museum. The museum shop and tea room are also situated inside the museum. The inside of the building applies universal design so wheelchairs, multi-purpose toilets and baby beds are available. It is possible to enter with assistance dogs and guide dogs.
