Become beautiful at Ryujin hot spring

Ryujin hot spring is located in Tanabe, Wakayama Prefecture. According to the legend, the place is 1300 years old. A lot of ryokan inns are located along the Hidaka-gawa river, so you get to see it from every open air bath.

Ryujin hot spring is famous as one of three "beautiful women" hot springs in Japan, along with Kawanaka hot spring in Gunma Prefecture and Yunokawa hot spring in Shimane. Ryujin's high quality hot spring waters are clear with a high quantity of sodium bicarbonate and radium. The waters of the hot spring wash off keratoderma, have a positive effect on liver and remove cholesterol. Thanks to the water quality, the chilling after a bath usually does not occur.

Given that most ryokan inns in the area usually have their own hot spring, you can enjoy these waters at any inn you stay. Entry to Ryujin hot spring is possible, even if you don’t have a reservation. The onsen facility has a cypress bath and a rock bath. Entrance fee is 700 yen for adults, 350 yen for junior high students. Business hours are from 7:00 to 21:00.
