Ichihara Elephant Kingdom

It is located in Ichihara, Chiba Prefecture. 10 elephants who play soccer or dance during performances are kept here. You can touch the elephants, ride on them, pat their nose and take pictures with them. Aside from elephants, there are more than 100 species dwelling here such as chimpanzees, capybaras, river horses and camels. Inside the park you can see and interact with herbivore animals.

The garden has an adjacent restaurant and gift shop where you can relax.

The entrance fee is 1800 yen for adults, elementary school students are 900 yen, and 500 yen for those over 3 years old. Be advised that the facility is closed on Thursdays. Business hours are from 9:00 to 17:00. The time of last entrance varies; 16:30 from  March – October, 16:00 from November – February.

Access

The closest station is Takataki Station on the Kominato Railway Line. A free shuttle bus is available from Takataki Station (reservation required). There is also a free bus from Ichihara Tsurumai Bus Terminal, however a reservation one day in advance is required. Time required is 10 minutes. To make a reservation please dial 0436-88-3001. Reservations can be made in Japanese only.
