Maebashi Travel Guide

Maebashi is a region located in the southern part of Gunma prefecture.   It includes the cities of Maebashi, Isesaki, Kiryu, Ota, and Tatebayashi.  The prefectural government of Gunma is located in Maebashi and it is the heart of the prefecture.

Places rich in nature are popular for sightseeing.  There are many places to enjoy hiking and camping such as Mount Akagi and the Watarase Valley.  We recommend the Watarase Valley Railroad, which connects Tochigi and Gunma prefectures, for people who want to enjoy scenic views.  Also, if you plan your visit to coincide with the different flower seasons, you can enjoy gardens like Gunma Flower Park and the Treasure Garden in all four seasons.  There are many kinds of flowers such as roses, tulips, orchids, azaleas, etc. and there are seasonal illuminations.  If you come in the spring to view cherry blossoms, you must go to the Akagi Nanmen Senbonzakura.

You can get around this region by train or car.  From Tokyo Station to Maebashi Station, it takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes by bullet train.  It takes 2 hours and 10 minutes by conventional train.
