Kinugawa Onsen is a hot springs upstream of the Kinugawa River, located about 30 minutes by car from Nikko Station. Similar to Hakone, it's a famous hot springs in the Kanto region. There are many hot springs and hotels lined up along the Kinugawa River. Long ago it was said that this hot spring was only available to daimyos (lords) and monks returning from shrine visits. The hot spring is alkaline and low in dissolved minerals, so it is also effective in healing burns. The hot springs has many facilities including a wonderful day spa, so if you come to this area you should absolutely come here to heal your weariness from a long trip.

Kinugawa is famous for its hot springs however there are plenty of attractions besides the hot springs. Guests can also enjoy seeing the Kinugawa valley from a boat on a trip down the river or via rafting, and they can also climb to the mountain summit via ropeway and see the majestic view overlooking the spa town and surrounding nature. Also located nearby are theme parks such as EDO WONDERLAND and Tobu World Square.
