Ikegami Baien

Ikegami Baien is a garden where people can enjoy the view of different flowers throughout the year. Plum flowers bloom from February to March, and the aroma of plum flowers spreads throughout the garden. It is a hill-shaped garden and different kinds of plum trees are planted on the slope. Other than plum trees, Sakura (Cherry blossom) is blooming from March to April and Hydrangea is blooming during the rainy season in June. Also, there is a tea room and Washitsu (Japanese-style room) so tourists can have a look at traditional Japanese architecture.

The garden is open from 9:00 to 16:30, and holidays are on every Monday, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. However, during plum flower season which is from February to March, the garden will be opened on Monday. Entry fee: 100 yen for visitors from 16-65 years old, and 20 yen for children from 6-15 years old. Entrance is free for children under 6 years old and for senior citizens over 65 years old.


The nearest bus stop is “Honmonji Ura”, and then it is a 3 minute walk from the bus stop to the garden. “Honmonji Ura” bus stop is on the bus route going from JR Gotanda Station to JR Kawasaki Station. If going by train, the nearest station is Nishimagome Station on the Toei Metro Asakusa Line. The garden is about a 10 minute walk from the station.
