What is Omoide Yokocho?

Omoide Yokocho is a night life area in Shinjuku ward. Japanese style bars called izakaya, bars and other shops are tightly lined up in a narrow area and you can enjoy eating and drinking in an atmosphere that will make you feel like you’ve gone back in time to the Showa Period (1926-1989). It is said that there were more than 300 shops open after World War II but now there are about 80 places with a variety of offerings such as chicken skewers, stewed meat, and ramen noodles. Times vary depending on the shop but we recommend going between 17:00 and 22:00.

It is a 5 to 10 minute walk from Shinjuku Station on the JR lines and Tokyo Metro Marunouchi line or Shinjuku Nishiguchi Station on the Toei Oedo line.
