The Advertising Museum Tokyo is a museum based in Tokyo’s Shinbashi district and is exclusively dedicated to the theme of advertising. It houses approximately 200,000 items from the Edo period to the present day. Inside, it is possible to view advertisements that are classified by date, shape and purpose. In addition to the museum, there is also an adjoining specialist library with books dedicated to advertising and marketing. There is also a ‘Museum Shop’. The library does not permit lending or borrowing, but visitors are welcome to browse.
Opening Hours and Entry Fees
The Advertising Museum’s opening hours are Tuesday through Friday: 11 : 00-18 : 30 and Saturday: 11 : 00-16 : 30. Entry will be permitted up until 30 minutes before closing time. The establishment is closed on Sundays, Public Holidays and Mondays. There may also be temporary closures for special events. The Advertising Library is open Tuesday through Friday 11 : 00-18 : 00 and Saturday: 11 : 00-16 : 00. Final entry times and closing times are the same as those of the Advertising Museum. There is no admission fee to either the museum or the library.
The closest station is Shiodome Station via the Toei Ōedo Line, from which the destination is a 1 minute walk. For those using the JR line, Tokyo Metro Ginza Line or Toei Asakusa line, the most convenient stop is Shimbashi Station. The destination is approximately a 5-10 minute walk from Shimbashi Station.
