The Suntory Museum of Art is an art museum located in Roppongi, founded in Marunōchi, Tokyo in 1961. Its mission is to find artistic “Beauty in Everyday Life”. To this end, the gallery presents a large collection of artworks and exhibitions dedicated to this theme. Enjoy Drinking Matcha in an Authentic Tea Ceremony Room
Within the Suntory Museum of Art there is a tea ceremony room designed by world-famous architect Kengo Kuma. Within this room, a Japanese tea ceremony is held several times a month. Here, visitors can enjoy drinking ‘matcha’ (powdered green tea) and eating ‘wagashi’ (traditional Japanese confectionary). The price of entry is 1000 JPY per person and the room capacity is 50 people per day. On designated ‘tea ceremony’ days, tickets are available from the third floor reception desk from 10.00 onwards.
Opening Hours and Admission Fees
Opening hours are 10.00-18.00. This excludes Fridays and Saturdays, where the museum is open until 20.00. Entry is permitted up until 30 minutes before closing. The museum is closed Tuesdays and during the New Year Holiday Period. All times are subject to change depending on exhibition changeover periods. The price of admission varies depending on the exhibition, so please consult the museum’s homepage for more information. Entry is free for those aged 15 years (middle school students) and under.
The closest station is Roppongi station via the Toei Ōedo Line, or via the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line. Roppongi station is connected to Midtown Tokyo (where the museum is located) via a direct underground passage. From Nogizaka Station via the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line, the venue is approximately a 3 minute walk.
