The Shin-Marunouchi Building is located just outside of Tokyo Station and houses offices as well as a shopping area. It opened in 2007 and is a popular shopping spot because of the convenience of location. The interior has a calm atmosphere and has luxury brand name stores geared toward adults. There are over 150 stores, from the 1st floor of the basement through the 7th floor. There is a "Restaurant Zone" on the 5th through 7th floors. Visitors can find cafes, bars, and various restaurants including Japanese (serving tempura, soba noodles, eel), Chinese and French. The 8th floor has a food court called Marunouchi House. The 1st though 4th floors of the basement have specially stores that carry traditional Japanese crafts and items such as washcloths and chopsticks, as well as cosmetic and apparel stores. These floors carry items that are little more casual than luxury bands.
