The Kawasaki-daishi Temple is located in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture. It is commonly crowded with many visitors on the first shrine visit of each New Year. They offer vary amulets for things like traffic safety and academic success. On the premises are the main hall that was built in 1964, inside which is the principal object of worship, the Yakuyoke-ko Kobo-Daishi, as well as images of Acala, Ragaraja and other deities. There is a building dedicated to Prince Shotoku inside which is an image of Prince Shotoku, given in 1966. There is an 8-sided 5-story pagoda dedicated to the memory of Kobo Daishi's death in 1150 as well. Inside the Yakushi-den there are the Yakushi-ruriko Nyoraizo (an image of a Buddha of medicine and healing) and the Juninshinsho (12 Chinese zodiac military gods that protect people). At Kawasaki-daishi many people come to visit to receive traffic safety blessings, in front of the temple you can even have your car exorcised, and inside the temple you can receive blessings for driver and passenger safety. Various events are held throughout the year. In January, a coming-of-age ceremony is held, the scattering of beans for Setsubun, a Spring Flower Festival, and every month a meeting for hand copying of sutras.
To reach the Kawasaki-daishi Temple by train, from the Keikyu's Kawasaki Station (川崎駅) you can transfer to the Daishi-sen, and then get off at Kawasaki Daishi Station (川崎大師駅)and from there you can walk 6 minutes. To take a bus there, from JR Kawasaki Station you can take the Kawasaki 23 bus bound for Daishi from the No. 7 bus area, and get off at the Daishi (大師) bus stop, then walk 8 minutes there. The parking lot is very large. It has been set up to be convenient to have your car blessed if you would like it to be.
