About the Yokohama Marine Tower
The Yokohama Marine Tower was built to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Yokohama area in 1959 and was opened in 1961. It is a 106m-high tower with an observatory, shops, restaurants, and more. It originally was used as a lighthouse but ceased this role in 2008.
The viewing floors are split into floors 29 and 39, from these floors you can look out over the entire Yokohama area in a 360 degree panorama from about 100m up. People normally use the elevator but there is an event a few days in the year where people try to climb up the 335-step staircase to reach the viewing floor. On the 29th floor there is a glass viewing window under your feet.
On the fourth floor there is the Tower Restaurant Yokohama where you’ll find all on one floor a café, an Italian restaurant "Zabando", and a traditional bar "Mizumachi Bar". On the second floor you’ll find the Marine Tower Shops where souvenirs and Yokohama Marine Tower original items are sold.
On the Minato Mirai Line from Motomachi-Chinatown Station (元町・中華街駅) get off and go through Exit No.4 and you can reach it in 1 minute. From the JR Ishikawa-cho Station (石川町駅) you can arrive in 15 minutes on foot. From the Yokohama Station East Exit (横浜駅東口) you can take a Sea Bus for a 15 minute ride, get off at the Yamashita Park stop (山下公園) and walk 2 minutes. The NYK Hikawamaru and Yokohama Doll Museum have a bundled admission set and so it’s a good idea to visit them together if you can.
