About the Hara Model Railway Museum
The Hara Model Railway Museum is a railway museum located in Yokohama City. The museum focuses around model railways collected from Japan, Europe, and America by model railway creator and collector Hara Nobutaro as well as Mr. Hara’s very own model railway that he built.
The exhibits at the museum aim to introduce the culture and history of railways to visitors through the models. The dioramas in the museum have been made out of iron in order to be as close to reality as possible, and there is real electric current flowing through the overhead wires on the models. They also offer programs where you can experience what it would be like to ride on the train. By using cameras attached to the train you can enjoy the scenery as if you were really riding on the model train.
