Hyuga Travel Guide

Hyuga is an area that covers the central to northern part of Miyazaki prefecture.   Besides the cities of Hyuga and Saito, it also includes the counties of Higashiusuki, Koyu, and Higashimorokata.

For sightseeing, there are plenty of beautiful scenic natural spots, such as Hyuga Cape, Umagase Cape, Cruss Sea, etc. Besides that, there are ancient historical sites such as the Saitobaru Kofungun Burial Mounds. Also, it is known as a cosmos and nanohana (rape blossom) spot in the spring.

This area is on the seaside Nippo Main line but there is no train service further inland so it is convenient to have a car for getting around in this area.  From major cities, it is accessible by plane and conventional train.  From Tokyo, you can fly from Haneda Airport to Miyazaki Airport then take the JR.  It takes about 3 hours.
