Ao no dokutsu (Blue Cave)

This cave is located near Cape Maeda, Onna-son, Okinawa Prefecture. This cave, formed by erosion, is illuminated with a strange blue light, which is in fact sunlight, refracted in the seawater. For this reason, the cave is called the Blue Cave.
This is a perfect place for diving and snorkeling, as there are a lot of coral reefs and fish around. Outside of the time before and after noon, when it gets too crowded, the cave is a recommended spot for exploring the sea.
Please book diving and snorkeling tours in the tour companies nearby.

From Naha Airport take bus #120, from Naha Bus Terminal – bus #20 and get off at Kuraha Bus stop. Turn left near prefectural road 6 and walk for 20 minutes. Car: Go northwards in Nago direction on the road #58, 1.5 hours from Naha Airport.
