About Sakaemachi Market

Sakaemachi Market is located in the city of Naha. This market was founded in 1955 during the postwar reconstruction period and the atmosphere of the Showa period (1926–1989) still lingers within this market. The market itself has about 150 stores that sell a variety of products including vegetables, side dishes, daily necessities and more. It is a market that has adapted itself to modern times and is used on a daily basis by the locals here. During the day the market is crowded, and at night the dining locations draw plenty of visitors. The market has a number of Okinawan restaurants and bars, yakitori-ya and coffee shops where you can enjoy soothing Okinawan comfort food.
