About Mifuneyama Rakuen
Mifuneyama Rakuen is a very large garden in Saga Prefecture, with grounds covering over 500,000 square meters. It was opened by the owners of the land, and the name stems from the beautiful view of the mountain Mifuneyama that towers behind the gardens.
There are numerous attractions to see within the garden including a teahouse and over 500 statues of Buddhist saints, in spring you can see over 5,000 cherry trees and azaleas in bloom here, and in fall you can enjoy the autumn leaves of a near-200 year old maple.
There are events for each season such as in summer when the Japanese holiday Tanabata is celebrated and lanterns are hung up on the bamboo trees. The best times to visit the garden are during the spring flowering period and the autumn leaves period.
There are hotels and hot springs inns within the park and it is a great idea to enjoy a dip in the hot springs and then a relaxing garden walk while wearing a Japanese yukata afterwards.
