Yamaroku Soy Sauce

This soy-sauce factory is 150 years old. The soy sauce, made using hand-made Osugi barrels, prides itself on its good reputation and has many fans on the island and beyond. A 100-year old wooden warehouse was built according to a traditional building technique. Yamaroku offers a tour to visit the "Natural Mash Warehouse", admission is free and reservation is not required. Take a look inside the world of soy sauce.

In front of the warehouse, there is a café, called "Yamaroku chaya" (Yamaroku Tea House). They offer drinks and meals, based on soy sauce: soy sauce ice-cream (summer only), yakimochi (winter only), soy sauce pudding (weekends only) and soy sauce sweets, which you can try here only. The café is open from 9:00 to 17:00.

Car: Proceed on state highway 436 towards Doatsu or Fukuda, and the factory is right before Yasuda-Ogawa. The parking lot can accomodate approximately 4-5 vehicles.

Bus: Take the bus on the Shozu line or Minami-mawari Fukuda line, and then the factory is 10 minutes from Yasuda-jo bus stop or 20 minutes from Yasuda (Yakuba-mae) bus stop.
