Uchiko/ Ozu is an area located in the central part of Ehime prefecture. It includes the town of Uchikocho and the city of Ozu in the county of Kita and the city of Yawatahama.
Tourist attractions include the Uchiko-za Kabuki Theatre, the theater which is said to be the symbol of Uchiko-cho, and Garyu Sanso Mountain Villa, where you can enjoy the natural scenery of the four seasons. This area has a history as a prosperous wax production area from the Edo period (1603-1868) to the Meiji era (1868-1912), and the charm is preserved in the Traditional Townscape of Yokaichi-Gokoku Areas. You can get around this area by car, train or bus. The nearest station is Uchiko Station and from major cities you can get there by plane, railway and express bus. From Matsuyama Station in the center of Ehime prefecture, you can get to this area in about 30 minutes on the Uwakai railway.
