Bandai San Travel Guide

Bandai-san is an area centered on Bandai-san (Mt. Bandai) in Yama-gun, Fukushima Prefecture. Bandai-san is a mountain that represents Fukushima Prefecture, where visitors can enjoy mountain climbing and skiing.

If you enjoy the outdoors, we recommend Goshiki-numa Nature Trail, Lake Inawashiro, and Lake Hibara. In summer you can enjoy mountain climbing, camping, fishing, cycling, paragliding, and golf. During winter, this area is bustling with lots of people who enjoy winter sports such as skiing and snowboarding.

For traveling through the area, you should use fixed-route buses and trains. One of the nearest train stations in the area is Inawashiro Station, however you can also travel to the area from each of the major cities in Japan via Shinkansen or conventional train line. If you are coming from Tokyo, take the Tohoku Shinkansen to Koriyama Station, then switch over to the Ban’etsu Nishi Line. The total travel time is 2 hours and 30 minutes.
