What is Lake Inawashiro

Lake Inawashiro in Fukushima Prefecture is located at Mt. Bandaiand is the 4th largest in Japan, and 3rd largest freshwater lake in Japan.  Located in Bandai Asahi National Park, visitors can enjoy the beautiful spring, lush green summer, and vibrant fall foliage.  There are various activities around the lake including, walking, cycling, climbing, paragliding, golf, canoeing and yachting.  In the winter, swans also fly to the lake.  There is heavy snowfall here and visitors can enjoy skiing and snowboarding in the winter.

Due to the eruption of Mt. Bandai, there is a crater lake and caldera lake nearby as well.  It is possible to explore different kinds of beauty at these tourist spots.  Hot springs are also abundant and visitors can enjoy these springs after a day of leisure.  There are a variety of hotels, inns and cozy accommodations in the area.  Daytrips as well as overnight trips can be enjoyed.


By car:  Use the ‘’Inawashirobandaikogen IC’’ interchange on the Banetsu Expressway.

By train:  Use Inawashiro Station on the Banetsu West Line.  Banetsu West Line connects to Tohoku Shinkansen Bullet Train and Tohoku Line at Okoriyama Station.

By airplane:  Fukushima Airport is the closest airport.  Limousine busses are available from the airport to Okoriyama.
