Obarashuzo Sake: Loved by Ladies
Obarashuzo Brewery is more than a 290-year old sake brewery in Kitakata, Fukushima Prefecture. The Kitakata area is rich with spring water and rice, so sake-making carries a long history here. Nowadays, there are about 10 sake breweries here. What makes Obarashuzo brewery distinct is the fact that sake is brewed while playing classical music, which is why it is referred to as "classic sake". Various kinds of music were played during the sake brewery process, but only classical music provoked change in fermentation. That gave birth to the "Classic sake" series. Kuraiki sake series is popular among women because it has fruit flavor and is easy to drink. You can book a tour of Obarashuzo brewery and learn about the aspects of sake making during a 10-minute tour. No need for reservation. Besides that you can also taste several brands of sake.
30 min walk from Kitakata Station.
Car: Parking is available but we don't recommend using a car, since the driver won't be able to participate in sake tasting.
