A Place Worth Seeing

The Jodoga-hama coast is a seashore located in the Sanriku Fukko National Park. The beautiful scenery is designated as one of the best views of the Sanriku Coast by the government. Also the beach, which has a cove, has been chosen as one of the best 100 beaches in Japan.

In the white sand there are very sharp rhyolite-rocks and there are pine trees that cover the rocks. Together with the clear blue ocean, the scenery is just like heaven.

The cave where wishes come true

In Jodoga-hama Coast, there are four observatories and visitors can see the coast, the island, the point, and other scenery from each direction. If visitors go up a little to the land side, there is the Usukiyama Mountain where there are witch hazels, azaleas, and dogwoods in bloom from March to June.

To get to the Blue Cave, visitors need to sign up for a tour at the Jodoga-hama Marine House. The fee is 1500 yen. It runs from April to December, but there are times when the boat cannot go out because of the weather, so visitors need to check the weather before they go.

Public Transportation: Ride the bus for about 20 minutes to Oku Jodoga-hama from Miyako Station on the JR line. Going by taxi will take 10 minutes. Car: 120 minutes from Morioka Minami IC on the Tohoku Road. Parking: There are 2 parking lots, but you have to walk 15 minutes from there to get to the coast.
